Bio

A piper of 23 years experience, Jackie has played in all the New England states, Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, Scotland and London. She is a member in good standing with the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association and the Competing League of Amateur Solo Pipers (UK) in grade 2, as well as receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Scottish Music - Piping from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2015. She was also honoured with a position as Piper in the band Piper's Trail, specifically for playing the 2015 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as well as the opportunity in the autumn of 2015 to guest lecture at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the subject of Piping.

Jackie additionally studied clarsach, or Scottish harp, under the tuteladge of premier harpist Heather Downie at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She was an assistant tutor with the Scottish organization Harp Bazaar, helping with monthly harp workshops and competitions as well as being a member in good standing with the Comunn Na Clarsaich, or The Clarsach Society.

In addition to her piping tutors at the Conservatoire, Director of the National Piping Centre Finlay MacDonald and Stuart Samson, MBE, Jackie receives tuition from Willie McCallum of Bearsden, Scotland and Donald F. Lindsay of Petersburgh, NY. She has played in the past with the now defunct grade 1 Oran Mor Pipe Band of Troy, NY and currently plays with the Catamount Pipe Band of Montpelier, VT (of which she is a founding member).

Jackie plays a Telynau Teifi Harlequin Telor Harp, Highland pipes made by R.G. Lawrie around 1908 made from African blackwood, ivory and silver, and plays chanters by Sinclair and McCallum. She also plays Scottish smallpipes made by Michael Dow of Maine.
